Setanta the exclusively hurling club with a long tradition were the hot favorites in this semi-final with a prize in the final at stake.Dungloe were well prepared for this game and were at full strength with the entire panel of 25 available. The evening was perfect for hurling. Setanta opened the scoring and quickly went into a three point to one lead.Dungloe began to take control however all over the field and great movements and great scores followed.James Hartnett scored two goals and Philip Rodgers one and great points also by David Hanlon, James Hartnett, Harry Noble, Matthew and Daithi Roberts. Thomas Hartnett was great at centre back as was Nicholas Wehrley. The full back line led by Ódhran McGonagle was supreme and assisted by Brendan Boyle and later Joe Greene.Oisin Campbell was very influential at half forward and David Hanlon terrorized the Setanta defense.Kyle Wiggins was tireless at midfield and didn’t stop working and Ben Boyle and Michael McNulty did well when they came on. Other very important members of the team were Gerard Glackin, Dara Ward, Ethan Ward, Jake O’ Mahony. This performance can’t be overrated and Dungloe hurling is now firmly on the map with a championship final next week.Well done to all involved. The team as a whole was brilliant and impossible to choose one man of the match.Good luck to in the Final.Congratulations to James Hartnett who has been selected for the Donegal national school team to play against Down on the 15th June in Newry, the same day and venue for the senior championship match between these two counties.Good luck James! The entire under 12 panel and management traveled to Co. Down on Saturday last. The U12s had a great day yesterday in Newry at the Newry Mitchell’s tournament. There were 43 teams from Ulster and Leinster at the tournament, which was very well run and a credit to the organizers.Dungloe were in a group of 6 with teams from Cavan, Meath, Tyrone, Dublin and Down the boys competed well and just missed out on qualifying for the quarter finals. We had 29 young lads with us who were a credit to the club. An excellent day all round. Thanks to everyone who helped.Thank you to our neighboring club Naomh Muire who joined our U8’s in a Blitz in Rosses Park on Saturday morning last.Great fun was had by all the boys and girls who took part.Thank you to all parents who helped out on the day.Anyone who would like to place a ticket order for Donegal v Antrim in Clones should contact Ellen on 087 9807323 as soon as possible.
