Man to stand trial in killing of his cousin

first_imgWHITTIER – A man was ordered Wednesday to stand trial on charges he fatally stabbed his 19-year-old female cousin, who was a cerebral palsy patient. Gray Maria, 23, is charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the June 22 killing of Maria Del Real at her family’s Whittier-area home. The defendant – also known as Luis Gomez – was arrested a day after the slaying. Family members said in June that the victim and her younger brother had been watching television with her cousin in her bedroom. When her sibling left the room to get something, the defendant allegedly pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed her to death. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
