first_img Business News Education Pulitzer Prize Winner Daniel Walker Howe to Speak at Local College From STAFF REPORTS Published on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 | 2:07 pm Pulitzer Prize Winner Daniel Walker Howe will speak on “Religion and Culture in Antebellum United States,” on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Franson Hall, 1539 East Howard St., Pasadena. It will be a free admission event.Following his lecture, Dr. Howe will hold a 20 minute discussion about his award-winning American history, “What Hath God Wrought.” Dr. Howe is professor emeritus at Oxford and UCLA and a widely sought-after lecturer. He was president of the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic in 2001 and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.In conjunction with this special event, the Providence Christian College history department is accepting submissions from anyone interested in presenting an academic paper on American history and religion earlier in the day as part of the inaugural Providence academic conference.
